Nanotechnology (if it ever exists) potentially has to do with just about everything.
The idea of nanotech is to make machines the size of atoms and molecules that can carry out robot-like operations. So in the field of farming, you might use nanotech to:
– remove contaminants from soil
– treat diseases in plants
– genetically engineer plants
– alter water flow in farmland
– produce new arable land by changing deserts and rocky areas
– produce ‘fruits’ from raw materials without even growing a plant
– cause plants to behave differently
And whatever else you can think of. Of course many of these and other such ideas are a bit pie-in-the-sky, and not really likely to replace good, old-fashioned agriculture. But then who knows exactly what the future will bring, neh?
